What Ariadne Sense does and what it deliberately doesn't promise

A new sense, not a replacement

Ariadne Sense complements the white cane, the guide dog and orientation training, but it does not replace them. The cane gives you the certainty of physical contact with your immediate surroundings. Ariadne adds what the cane can't reach: a description of the scene, text, context, an earlier warning. Every step is your decision. We recommend using the app alongside your primary aids, especially in street traffic.

How we design warnings

Hazards first. When a potential danger appears in the frame, the assistant interrupts other messages and speaks about it first.

Haptic escalation. Vibration intensifies as you approach an obstacle, and below a safety threshold it starts to pulse (measured with the LiDAR sensor).

Short and specific. Hazard messages follow a fixed, predictable structure: what, on which side, how far. For example: “Post, on the right, very close.”

Limitations: stated plainly

Every camera-and-AI system has conditions where it works less well. For us these include: harsh sunlight hitting the lens, raindrops or a dirty lens, very dense crowds, transparent objects (glass) in unusual lighting, and scenes changing faster than the analysis cycle.

Recognition of people and emotions is descriptive and can be wrong, so treat it as a hint, not a certainty. The AI assistant features require a network connection.
